Introduction to Theater Arts and Production

Introduction to Theater Arts and Production is an introductory course designed to acquaint students with the fundamentals of putting on a performance, including basic stage and rehearsal terminology and the requirements for a production such as props, costumes, lighting, sound, directing, producing and acting. Students will study basic principles of acting such as creating a character, particularly by using facial expression, body language and tone of voice with emphasis on projecting one’s voice and proper diction. Students will study basic history of theater and develop an understanding theater’s place in the arts and culture.
