Algebra I

The study of Algebra is a method of solving problems and understanding the world around us. Students will use problem-solving approaches to investigate and understand mathematical content. They will apply integrated mathematical strategies to solve problems from within and outside mathematics. In addition to direct instruction, we will use small-group activities and projects. Graphing calculators are used extensively for both computation and graphing. Algebra Tiles are manipulative tools that help students see the abstract concepts more concretely. Our goal is to help students see patterns in the world around them and solve problems they will encounter in life. Algebra I stresses the basic skills needed for using linear and quadratic functions. Algebra I is preparation for more advanced math courses.
