Computer-Aided Design (CAD)

Computer Aided Design (CAD) is an exploratory course designed to provide students an overview of the methodology and applications of solid modeling design software.  This course explores the role that designers play in the development of a product from concept to fruition.  The primary emphasis of the course is to expose students to the potential applications of CAD-related offerings, based upon their interests.  Students will develop both 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional modeling skills and convey their designs in an industrially-relevant manner.  The process will include the use of precision measurement equipment, as they develop solutions to perceived and actual design problems.  Rapid prototyping will be used to illustrate and evaluate the effectiveness of the designs.
