In Math C, students explore the world of mathematics and the number system by conducting investigations into concepts, employing real-world practice, and participating in class field trips. Concepts focused upon include: fractions and decimals; multiplication and division; solving real-world problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; use of standard and metric rulers to find area and perimeter and volume; classifying shapes and identifying angles; reading and interpreting graphs. During the first semester, students focus on place value and whole numbers. Students also explore decimals and money. During the second semester, students focus on fractions, geometry, and graphing data.
