The proud parent of a 2014 Midwest Academy graduate, Kathy is very passionate about Midwest and truly enjoys seeing the growth and transformation that continues to occur with current students. She has served on the Midwest Board since January 2013 and is a retired registered nurse. (BSN from Indiana University).
Kathy is very involved in community service. She serves as Moderator of Presbyterian Women at Second Presbyterian Church, was active in her children’s schools when they were younger, and volunteered regularly at The Children’s TherAplay Foundation, Inc.
A Carmel resident, Kathy loves spending time with her husband and two grown children. She is an avid reader and also enjoys outdoor activities such as horseback riding and gardening.
Melinda W. Fisher
Melinda’s experience in independent school admissions, communications and development has been helpful in supporting Midwest Academy since she first joined the Board in 2013.
“I love the safety and the devotion children receive at Midwest Academy that is not available to them in other schools,” she says. “Their success is a joy to see.”
Currently a consultant, Melinda spent 11 years at St Richard’s Episcopal Church. She earned a BS in Business Administration from Clemson University and an MBA from Wake Forest University. She also serves on the St. Richard's Foundation Board and the American Cancer Society Guild.
In her spare time, Melinda enjoys gardening and reading. She resides in Indianapolis with her husband and three children.
Melinda W. Fisher
Todd joined the Board in November 2013, but his affiliation with Midwest Academy began five years ago when his son first enrolled at the school.
Todd recently launched Howard Homes, a residential real estate company specializing in serving seniors and baby boomers. He brings his 25+ years of experience in sales and management to the Midwest Academy Board’s Fundraising and Marketing Committee.
Todd and his wife, Kristen, live in Carmel with their son and daughter.
Kristen joined the Midwest Board in 2016. Both her personal and professional relationships brought her into contact with the school and she was immediately taken with the school’s positive energy, compassionate spirit, strong community and celebration of individual talents.
Kristen is a psychotherapist who owns and manages her own private practice in Broad Ripple (KAP Counseling, LLC). She works with adolescents, adults and families with varied issues including: depression, anxiety, mood disorders, family conflict, life transitions and stress management.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Kristen received her B.A. in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University in Bloomington and her Masters in Social Work from The Ohio State University. Kristen has lived in Indianapolis for 13 years with her husband and two sons.
Jill joined the Midwest Board in 2016. With friends and family with children who have learning differences, she has great passion to make a difference for our students.
As Vice President in the Nonprofit Services Division at The National Bank of Indianapolis, Jill draws on more than 13 years of banking experience working with nonprofit and for-profit organizations. For the past 10 years, Jill has been an advisor for nonprofit clients, successfully assisting organizations with their entire banking relationship including depository, lending and investment needs.
She is a graduate of Butler University with a B.S. in Finance and has an MBA from Ball State’s Miller School of Business.
Jill has a passion for education and currently serves as a founding board member for Civic Collegiate Charter School, as Finance Committee member for Early Learning Indiana and as a liaison for the Downtown Indy Kiwanis to Harshman Middle School. In addition, Jill is a board member for Family Courts Promoting Recovery in Marion County.
Dawn joined the Midwest Academy Board of Trustees in March 2013 and served as Chair of the Board from 2014 to 2016. Her affiliation with the school actually began in 2011 when her son enrolled as a sixth grader. “The teachers and staff at Midwest are AMAZING,” she says. “I love, love LOVE Midwest!”
An educator herself, Dawn is a graduate of Ball State University with a degree in Business Education, and she has taught at public schools in both Indiana and Kentucky.
Dawn also volunteers at her church as a Deacon, as well as with the children’s programs, Vacation Bible School, tone chimes (hand bells) and mission work. She resides in Carmel with her husband of 36 years, her son, and her daughter who us currently a student at DePauw University.
Donald C. Schultheis
Don joined the Midwest Board in 2016. He believes that "Children are the future. As a board member at Midwest Academy, I can help the school prepare kids with learning differences to make the most of their future."
Currently, Don is responsible for institutional marketing, client relationship management and consultant development at Goelzer Investment Management. His prior experience includes serving as Managing Director at Steinberg Asset Management, as Head of Consultant Development at Credit Suisse Asset Management and as Partner and Managing Director at Warburg Pincus Asset Management.
He graduated With Highest Distinction from Indiana University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance.
Don is married to Lisa and has four grown children: Taylor, Adam, Matt and Genova. He is a member of Holy Spirit Geist Catholic Church and has been active in youth sports as a coach for almost 20 years.

Bill joined the Midwest Academy Board of Trustees in March 2015 and chairs the Fundraising Committee. Professionally, he is Deputy General Counsel for UnitedHealthcare, where he manages a team providing legal services on legislative and regulatory matters for the Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid segments of UnitedHealthcare’s benefits businesses.
Bill serves on several other nonprofit boards, including the Alpha Graduate Chapter of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, the House Corporation of the Lambda Iota Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at Purdue University, and the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Inc., where he serves on the Executive Committee, the Governance and Nominating Committee, the Audit Committee and chairs the theater’s annual fundraiser.
Bill received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in 1986 and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1992. He lives in Carmel with his wife and his son, who is a Midwest Academy student.
